Mentor Bio

Dr. Michael Truitt

Dr. Truitt began his medical career at Texas A&M University studying biomedical science. He attended The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston where he studied medicine from 1998-2002. Following achieving his doctorate, he attended the University of Colorado School of Medicine to study General Surgery from 2002-2007. Dr. Truitt then had one year of Surgical Critical Care at the University of Texas Southwestern in 2012. Today, he is a Trauma Surgeon at Methodist Dallas Medical center, and is the Program Director of General Surgery Residents.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Truitt in my third informational interview. From the moment that I had walked out of the hospital, I knew that I wanted to ask him to be my mentor. I have been so blessed to have gotten to meet and work with him, and I cannot wait to grow as an aspiring surgeon through his passion.
